ah .... I understand ... I find it ironic also ...
but does it matter when you "find" religion ? ... if religion is a
tool to help you get through a personal crisis ? ....
once upon a time, I tried to become a regular volunteer at the red
cross home for the disabled at hill view ... immates with twisted,
mangled, paralyzed bodies, but some with normal, sharp minds .....
I stopped after a while, cos it's too mentally draining for me,
every visit took a piece of my soul, so I stopped.
there were a bunch of evangelist preaching there then ... I
remember being contemptuous of them ... for exploiting those people
.... I remember an immate there telling me that souls really go to
heaven after death, that it's been scientifically proven (okay,
roll your eyes there) ...
later ... I realized that it's not such a bad thing after all ...
cos their faith, regardless of whether you hold the same faith or
not ... helps them get through their painful daily existence ...
imagine having a normal, sharp mind, but a twisted, mangled,
paralyzed body ... their faith and hope gives them the strength and
courage to get on with their lives ....
we all seek succor in different ways .... and I'm not ashamed that
I found succor in this rather than cigarettes and beer and one
night stands as I have done in the past ....
